From a St. Helena vineyard planted by early Napa settler Edward Bale more than 150 years ago, and later serving as the estate vineyard for the area’s first winery built by Henry Pellet in 1860, the Las Piedras site always delivers delicate and elegant wines. When placed next to Dr. Crane and To-Kalon wines, the Las Piedras show a certain elegance, with a very graceful entry and finely detailed complexity. We toned down the oak just slightly this year with 62% new French oak. Aromas of violets, baking spice, cinnamon, and clove lead onto blueberry, black cherry, cassis, cedar, and minerality on the palate. This year’s Las Piedras has an earthy and savory component on the finish, which seems to last into eternity. This is an amazingly graceful and stylish wine – Margaux like. Don’t miss out, with only 85 cases produced, you’ll want to get this in your cellar as soon as possible.

"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lithology Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is more closed aromatically, yet still offers impressive red, blue, and black fruits as well as savory herbs and dried flower nuances. It too is full-bodied, with a focused, tight, straight style on the palate that warrants 4-5 years of cellaring."

"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lithology Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is a fabulous wine from this site. Vibrant and finely cut to the core, the 2019 dazzles with notable brilliance. Crushed rocks, menthol, spice, mint, mocha and licorice all develop in a compelling, articulate Napa Valley Cabernet. The balance of opulence and Las Piedras mineral intensity is simply compelling." -- Antonio Galloni
