Produced from old Merlot vines (100%) in the distinguished Cadillac area with consulting winemaker Michel Rolland. The 2015 vintage of Château Maubert is showing a classic crimson color with a thinning edge that runs too clear, consistent with its age. The nose is remarkably fresh and gaining complexity. There are notes of cedar, tobacco, fallen leaves, and conifer, plus plum pudding, black currant, cooked cherries, road tar, and herbs de Provence. In the mouth, you’ll find a classic structure of light tannins, preserved fruits, and forest floor and tree bark, with a decent length, finish. Utterly traditional, old-school Claret for every day.
Produced by Château Suau, the former hunting lodge of the Duke of Epernon and a remarkable vineyard whose origin dates back to the 16th century. Since the vintage 2014, all their wines are certified Organic by Ecocert made with the world-famous oenologist Michel Rolland.
Silver medal - Concours Général Agricole de Paris 2019

87 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"This wine is now mature, retaining some juicy black-currant flavors but now showing secondary spice, tannins and acidity. The wine is smoky, balanced and ready to drink."
